ANINI, Jan 22: Irate student activists of All Idu Mishmi Students Union (AIMSU) on Friday ransacked several office chambers of DC office at Anini. The Deputy Commissioner is reportedly out of station.
A report from Anini said the students are agitated over government’s failure to respond to situation in the district headquarter.
The district headquarter has been facing shortages of power supply, teachers and
doctors for past several years. Many govt schools in the interior pockets have been
closed down and long vacation announced. The district medical is completely non-
“Even after a week of closing down of district medical office, protesting the pathetic health situation in Anini, the government hasn’t responded”, said AIMSU secretary Rajiv Mihu.
The union had last week ordered closing down of medical office at Anini alleging the failure of government to improve the health facilities in the district.
“Government has not allotted a single doctor for Anini after filling up of 200 vacant posts under NRHM.”
“The district medical has only one doctor at the station with no essential medicines and life saving drugs”, said Mihu. “The sick are forced to go 50 km far away at Etalin health centre which is run by an NGO.”
An official said the students turned violent after a public meeting between the government officials and the students union. They started ransacking the office building and furniture and targeted the chamber of the EAC in the DC office.
The union said such protest actions will continue till government responds to talk with the public of Anini on the deteriorating living condition.
“If government continues to ignore Anini, then celebration of Republic Day at the district headquarter might coincide with a mass protest”, warned the union.

Disclosing this in a press statement, AAPSU president Takam Tatung stated, “Last year we had gone to Delhi and protested against Chinese claim but government of India is not taking the issue seriously. Again we want to knock at their door and let them know how people of this state are angry with their meek response to this whole issue.” He went on to add, “We also want to know why government of India is going easy in carrying out developmental activities in our state. Just sitting at Delhi, they give lip service and never bother to know the real problems of Arunachalees. We hope by meeting PM and other central leaders, we can apprise them of ground situation.”
Further Tatung said, “We also want to know how much Delhi government is serious about developing Arunachal and how they plan to counter Chinese claim over Arunachal.”
Meanwhile AAPSU said it will wait for response of central government before going ahead with boycott of national holidays. “For now we have shelved the idea of boycotting Republic Day celebration. After examining response of central leaders during our forthcoming visit to Delhi, we will decide our future course of action. If response is not positive, in future we will be forced to go ahead with boycott of national holidays,” said Tatung.
ITANAGAR, Jan 22: Arunachal Pradesh Civil Service Officers’ Association (APCSOA) in a memorandum to the Chief Minister demanded that the newly created DEE post should be encadred for IAS/APCS as per Government of India directives.
“The assurance of the State Government given to Arunachal Teachers’ Association (ATA) regarding handing over of the DEE post to Education cadre officers must be taken back and a notification regarding permanent encadrement of the DEE post for IAS/APCS should be issued at the earliest,” the memorandum said.

Likha Tabo nominated as INTUC State President
ITANAGAR, Jan 22: Indian National Trade Union Congress (INTUC) National President Ambati Krishnamurthy has nominated youth leader Nilly Likha Tabo as the State President of INTUC, Arunachal unit.
The Central Working Committee of INTUC has nominated Tabo recently in New Delhi after scrutinizing his credentials as a well known youth leader of the State. Tabo has recently resigned from the post of the general secretary of All Nyishi Students Union.
In a press statement today, Tabo said that his initial duty will be to streamline the structures of the INTUC bodies in the State, firstly, by constituting executive bodies of the State encompassing all the 16 districts.
“There are many provisions enshrined in the constitution of INTUC. I will do my best so that the poor, downtrodden and suppressed class of organized and unorganized sector may get relief,” Tabo stated. He further said that he will put his best to secure speedy improvement of conditions of work and life and of the status of the workers in industry and society.
The INTUC Arunachal unit, in the meantime, has urged APCC president Nabam Tuki and other senior leaders to coordinate with the new team of INTUC for the greater interest of the State.

Nyedar Namlo Raising Day in Seijosa
Seijosa, Jan 22: Nyedar Namlo Raising Day will be celebrated in a grand manner at Nyedar Namlo, Seijosa in East Kameng. Chairman of the Seijosa Nyedar Namlo informed that preparations are at full swing for the celebration. Former Deputy Chief Minister Kameng Dolo will be the chief guest and Seijosa ADC Tayk Pado will be the guest of honour respectively. Seijosa Nyedar Namlo Secretary Anand Bagang, highlighting on various programmes, has informed that all rituals associated with the Namlo will be duly performed, especially darkya (cleansing of body and soul).
Dedicate an institution to Mallo Tarin: ANSU
Itanagar, Jan 22: The All Nyishi Students Union (ANSU) has urged the State government to dedicate a road or institution to Mallo Tarin, veteran politician and prominent social worker who died on January 19 last.
“Tarin was one of the pioneers of the State Capital establishment in 1972. Great service rendered by such towering personality should be remembered by one and all. As such, what a better way than to dedicate a road or important institution in honour of his immense contribution to the State”, suggested ANSU President Niglar Veo.
Meanwhile, ANSU has deeply condoled the demise of the great personality and prayed to almighty to bestow enough strength for the family to bear the irreparable loss.
NSD graduate Riken chosen for Poland trip
ITANAGAR, Jan 22: National School of Drama (NSD), Delhi, graduate Riken Ngomle has been chosen by NSD for Poland tour for a period of five months from March. During his stay at Poland, he will receive acting technique under the guidance of Jerzy Grotowski.
He would organize a 45 days residential theatre workshop in Likabali under NSD extension programme from February to March before leaving for Poland, .
Earlier, Riken worked with various film personalities from India and abroad and also participated in Asian Theatre Festival at Beijing, International Theatre Festival of Kerala at Kerela, Bharat Rang Mahotsav at Delhi and Threatre Zar at Poland.
AAPWU objects insertion of cm’s photograph
ITANAGAR, Jan 22: The All Arunachal Pradesh Workers’ Union (AAPWU) has objected to the publication of calendars having photographs of the Chief Minister and Parliamentary Secretary for Labour and Land Management by the All Arunachal Pradesh Government Departmental Labours’ Union (AAPGDLU) without their prior consent.
AAPWU general secretary Changma Tajo said that the leaders of AAPGDLU is misleading the poor labourers of the state by publishing and inserting the photographs of Chief Minister and Parliamentary Secretary Labour and Land Management without their prior approval and consent in their calendar which are widely circulated in and around the capital complex and other districts of the state.
Moreover, “Benefit of the Labour” like housing loans, tools advance and marriage assistance are also published in their calendar. Whereas, their tall claims of benefits are actually implemented by the Arunachal Pradesh Building & Other Constructions Workers Welfare Board, Govt. of Arunachal Pradesh in order to provide social security and other welfare measures/facilities to the workers engaged in Building and Other Construction activities in the state of Arunachal Pradesh.
Tajo appealed the Registrar of Trade Union, Government of Arunachal Pradesh, to intervene and cancel the registration of the said union for the illegal act. He also appealed the authorities to check mushrooming of similar organizations, particularly those based in the State capital.

ITANAGAR, Jan 22: The NSS Cell, NERIST organized a cleanliness drive at General Hospital, Naharlagun today.
The NSS volunteers of the institution cleaned drains, corridors and also removed ‘Pan’ stains at various corners of the hospital.
